The End 2.0

Hi my dear readers this post is the last one of the semester So I’m going to tell you my experience with this blog and with the subject in general.  I must to say that in this semester write in the blogs became easier. In the last semester I must to think a lot for what I wanted to write on it. But in this course I had already have the skills and the vocabulary enough to could write without many problems. I like this method to could improve our writing and reading skills, because it is different than the typical classroom session.

In another way, I would have liked to have more grammatical sessions to could improve or review the English tenses, and also I would have liked to have more opportunities to have a conversation in pairs, many of us don’t have the speaking skills developed enough.

In general I liked this experience learning English at university, because in my last two years of school I was bored about the English classes. I was one of the 3 people with high grades and I really love the subject, but one day it stopped to like me. But at the moment I started the university I realized about the importance of the English! And I asked to the English 2 teacher if I could stay I the class as a listener, because a year without English it will be a lot, even when a part of the bibliography of many subjects have English paper. I must to say that I met good teachers in this area, including you Mr Alvaro :D, you and Carolina (last English teacher) make the sessions funnier.

Changes in the EGGP

Hi beauty people!

Today I’m going to talk about a little thong that I would change in my university, but especially in the EGGP which is where my program is impart.

Well, let’s start with a little history of our Institute. Before the earthquake in 2010 the EGGP was impart in Palacio Matte, but since that the building cannot be used anymore, at least it will be restored. Since that episode the EGGP must to stay in different buildings like the “Universidad de los Lagos”, Agustinas (I don’t remember the number in this moment :c) and the last building is where we study at this moment, Moneda 1486.

Even that I love where is locate the EGGP (Santiago Downtown) and their benefits for this, we study in a small building whose capacity is for 250 people, but the problem is that we are 500 people or even more! So we stay here in a overcrowding, you can’t lunch in peace because you have a group behind you waiting for use the table, or when you want to take a nap EVERY coach is already taken! :c. Actually it doesn’t happen in the morning because I’m the first in arrive at the EGGP so I sleep an hour until the classes start jijiji, but let’s keep talking about the worst of this building in special.

To could improve these situation older students searched different options of building which we could rent to move out from here and their found a new building! And it very near from here!. In the past it belonged to Arcis University, so at the moment we will move to there, but that building needs a lot of infrastructure changes :c.

Another change that I would like to apply here its change the library’s place to the fourth floor of the B tower, because in the free time many people started to listen music so loud and we can’t focus in our study. 

Hi my readers today I’m going to talk about my future summer holidays, First of all I need to mention that I’m so happy for finish this semester early in comparison with the last year when we finished the year in January because the strike. We had only 1 month to rest from the stress, so in the first 2 weeks of that month I rest all the day, the other 2 we went to the Lago Rapel, I think that I have already talked about that isn’t it? Jajajaja. In this summer with my family we’re going to the south again, we don’t know here exactly, but we loved the south when we went to Villarrica.

At least now we are 7 adults and my nephew *-*, although we always invite my aunt and her family (husband and daughter) but it depends on them if they will go with us or not, of course the distance affect in their decision because my uncle works in the week, but we hope that they could come with us :D it would be great!.

I would like to do some trekking, take some tours or do rafting again :D that was a great experience full of adrenalin. Obviously I want to sleep some times in the day to could relax and rest :3 If you know me you should know that if I can sleep, I will be happy :D.

Even I would like to work in the holidays I know that I’m so lazy for that, so I’m borrowing energy to work someday jajajaja. I would like to do an English course to improve my English abilities for my work performance in the future :D

My pretty dogs

Hi! I missed you :( I have not written since long time ago, so I’m back and I'm going to talk about my dogs, I'm going to introduce to you the dogs who had been live inside the house, because I have other dogs who lived outside. I have a beautiful experience with my Dogs, I always loved them like if their were my sons. 

When I had 5 years old my mum brought to the house a little and cute white hairball, we named her Pelusa, she was a poodle, she was the first dog who lives inside the house with us so we had an especial care with her. Every day she was changing in another member of our Family. She was my sister daughter, she follow my sister to everywhere, they study, sleep, watch TV together, that was so beautiful to see. Sadly she died in May, but we were peaceful because we gave to her the best during 14 years of ours lifes, and vice versa.

When I was 7 years we bought the most beautiful and important dog for me, my son Totto. He is a black poodle, in the beginning we thought that he was a poodle toy, but he stars to grow, and grow and grow like Clifford (a dog who appear in a show of Discovery Kids), and that’s when we realized that he was a miniature poodle, it was funny because one day he started to cry a lot and we saw him stuck under the couch, obviously he doesn’t fit anymore in anywhere.

Then in 2006 Pelusa was pregnant and she gave to us the cutest thing in the world! Her daughter Mota, when she was a puppy she seemed like “coca-cola bear”, she smells to a kind of mix between coffee and milk, oh god I love that smell!. She loved to play with everything, with a plastic bag, she stole my parent’s chocolates and she shared it with the other 2 dogs, it was funny. Unfortunately when she was 6 years old she had cushing syndrome and every Vet told to us that she didn’t still be standing more than 3 months, but actually that deadline last until a year. Finally she died in October 2013.

In Summer 2014 a classmate gave to me a Yorkshire, Toffee, but he is an especial case because he doesn’t seems like one, actually he seems like a mix between Dachshund and Yorkshire, but he still being beautiful and lovely to us. He is so lively, he jumps in the couches, he barks every time that no one give attention to him

Postgraduate Studies

Hi guys, today I’m going to talk about the  Postgraduate studies that I would like to do at the end of my career. Like I said in the last post, I would like to work in a city hall so I need a lot of experience and knowledge about policies and management. I would like to take public management, ethics and government subject, because in my opinion there are essential to be a great public administrator, even more when the ethic in the public sector is weak, so that increase the distrust for part of the citizenship. I want to change the perception that many people have about the public administration, I want to recover the trust and credibility about our performance. I would like to do this postgraduate course abroad but I want to do this here, I have this discrepancy but I know than in the end of the program I will have decide it. I know that have the opportunity to study abroad is well valued but it will be so expensive :c pay the tikets, the studies and all the cost that it includes to live abroad, for example lodging, transport and those kind of things

I would like to study it part-time because I want to work too, I want to already have ane experience in the public sector, also I need money to pay it so I must to work to could come true that desire.

My perfect job :D

Hi everyone! The topic of today is about my future job.

Well I’m in the Public Administration program because I want to change realities for the other people who don’t have good quality of life or to decrease the current social injustice and make the world a better place to live.  At the end of the program we need to choice a mention, I would like to take the public management mention. In that way I want to work in a city hall to could help people directly with my actions. I imagine myself working in my city hall (Buin) being the mayoress because I grow in that city since 2001, technically I have spent my whole life in Buin, so obviously  I want the best for it and their community.  

I think that I will work indoors because I will spend the most of my time in meetings with many actors- I would like to do these meeting the most participative as possible to add many points of view to our projects. But I don’t want spend my whole time in an office; I want to have closeness with the community, listen their opinions, demands and wishes. I would like to travel in my job because in that way I could take and share ideas with other authorities 

Pop Music

Hi dears today I’m going to talk about pop music. Like I said in many post before, Pop is my favorite kind of music, I have many favorite groups of that but the two that I like the most are Backstreet boys and Britney Spears. My favorite song about they are As long as you love me and Oops I did it again respectively.  I started to listen them during my childhood because my old Sister listened them so I started to love them too, later when we pay a satellital TV I saw all the day Mtv channel and I knew other artist like Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Rihanna etc.

The last year Backstreet boys did a concert  in April, and I suffer a lot because I really wanted to go to their concert but I didn’t borrow enough money :c, so in that day I swore myself that I’ll go to their next concert here in our country whatever the cost.

At the same age I also listened latin artist, my favorite band were Kudai who are Chileans and RBD which it was a Televisa’s teen serie at the beginning and they gained popularity with that so they make a real band. It’s funny that nowadays with my 19 years I still listen, enjoy and remember all the letters!

"Bread and Roses"

Hi guys! It’s me again, well the post of today it’s a little bit different than the last one.

Yesterday, with the class we saw the film “Bread and Roses” which was directed by Ken Loach. And now I’m going to tell you my favorite 3 scenes.

The first one is when Sam went to the Maya’s house to explain to her family why is important to start a strike in the organization. He told that in 1982 cleaners had a better salary than in nowadays (1999), they gain $8.50 per hour with many benefits like health, holidays and others services but that finished gradually in 17 years. I like that because this was the start of the strike to improve their life’s quality.

The second scene is when the clean employees realized that they have right to organize unions but their boss didn’t let them to do that. So they joined to another union from the organization to start to protest. I like that because although some people wasn’t agree with the strike, they want to be respected.

And the last one is when everybody was in jail but Sam got a call and he announced to the employees that they will be hire again (everybody was fired for the strike). Unfortunately this scene finished bad because Maya was deported to Mexico again. I like that scene, despite the unlucky end of Maya, because the film has a happy ending after all.

Actually the social films aren’t one of my favorite types of films, but I like it because they give a different way of looking for some reality, like Machuca, it shows the Chilean's reality before 1973 with another eyes.

The immigrants' working conditions in Chile are deplorable because they gain less than the minimum salary even when they worked more hours than other employees, in adittion they are discriminate against for their nationality or their skin color :( .

My Favorite Holidays

Hi guys! Well as the topic say, today I’m going to talk about my favorite holidays. But before that I need to share a little  history about my family.  When I was 4 or 5 years old my parents met two Peruvians (Wilma and William) who worked with them in an olive factory, and since that time they became in greatest friends of our family and viceversa. Returning to the point of the post, in February of this year Wilma and William came to Chile with their children to spend the summer holidays with us. We went to Lago Rapel with my whole family (parents, siblings, cousin, aunt and uncle) and those 4 for 2 weeks. We rent a house there and we had access to the lake so we sail there with a zodiac. The house had a pool and a grill so we swam every day and usually ate barbecue at the night, sometime we did pizza or “fajitas” for the dinner.

That holiday was the best because we spend a familiar time all the time and I could relax for the stressful year that I had because  I had classes until January because the strike that we had in the university in 2015.

First Post: "A Country I'd like to visit"

Hi everyone!! In this semester we’re going to do blog posts again! So you’re going to know more about me and I hope that you’ll enjoy my experiences.

Well in the post of today I’m going to talk about the country that I’d like to visit, I would like to visit United States of America because I would do a family travel to Disney World.

Well, I don’t know much about the country, only the same that other people, that the Country was the first economic power in the 20th century, it has big cities like Los Angeles and New York, the best actors are from that country, t has beautiful places like Grand Canyon, Miami, Central Park and so on.

Like I said before I would like to visit Disney World with my whole family to could spend a great time and enjoy every attraction. I would like to visit Hollywood Walk of Fame to take me a photo with the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears Stars (I love pop music of 90’s)

Even I would not like to live there; I would like to do a post- grade associated with Public Administration especially in Public Management :D

Hi my dear readers this post is the last one of the semester So I’m going to tell you my experience with this blog and with the subject in general. Like I said before, in the beginning I was “scared” to write in this blog, but whenever I wrote every post I was improving my writing skills and increase my vocabulary with the help of Word Reference and my teacher jajajaja.

This subject had an effective method to develop another skills and to know about our classmates, I realized that although we spent a lot  of time with each other during the week, we didn’t know many things of them, and with the blog we could knew them and you could knew me too.

In the last post when I talked about the subject that I enjoyed study this semester I think in this subject too because after 3 years I started to enjoy the English again, I like the dynamic of the class, one day of theory and the other develop the writing and reading skills with the blog and do oral presentations to improve our speaking skills. In general, this subject gave us an integral knowledge.

My last two Holidays

Hi everyone! Today I want to share with you my experience in the last two summer holidays :D. Well, my family and I didn’t get out for the holidays, but in January 2015 came to Chile friends of Peru. My dad met them years ago. Actually I had 2 or 3 years old in that time. Wilma and Willy came to Chile to work with my dad who had an olive factory, and they had been studied some agronomy program in Peru so they helped my dad in that area.

Well back to the topic, in 2015 ours families went to Villarrica, we spend a great time with them. We visited Huife and Los Pozones thermal baths, Playa Blanca and we did rafting!

We made barbecue and pizza every night, it was delicious! We arrived rolling to Santiago.

In this summer, our Peruvians friends came again, so my dad rent a house in Rapel Lake for a week, but in this chance, came with us my aunt with her husband and daughter. I liked this holidays because we spend a familiar time. My dad invited 3 friends of him and one of them bring to the house a zodiac so we sail in the lake.

A subject that I enjoyed study in the program

I’m here again!

Well the post of today talk about the Subject that I enjoy studying this semester. Actually I thought in 2 subjects “Marco normativo para la accion administrativa ll” and English, but I’m going to talk about the last one in the last post, so I’m going to talk about the first one.

I chose this subject because, in my opinion, it is one of the most important subjects that we’re going to learn along the program, because the people who will work in the public sector need to know some “rules” to could develop a great job in their areas. All our job must be governed by the constitution of our country and the laws derivative from that, especially some laws which made mention about the civil servants, the responsibilities of our actions.

This subject line starts in our first semester of the program, there we studied concepts and knowledge basics about the law subject.I like this subject because if I have a question about the topic I have the assistance from my brother so that help me a lot to keep moving on and never give up and the other reason because I like it is because it is easy to study, because you only should have a lot of memory to learned the concepts to could implicate with another concepts.

An Expert in our field: Veronica Figueroa

Hi! In this post I’m going to talk about an expert on the field of Public Administration, I chose our professor Veronica Figueroa. She was our program director until the last year.

She study the same program like us, she is a public administrator from our University. She will be our workmate hehehehe. She has a PHd in Science of Management, and a post Phd of Center for Latin American Studies Of Standford University in California.

She is member of equality of gender opportunities commission of Universidad de Chile. She made a many of publications about indigenous policy, health reforms, modernization of the public management, and topics like that. Also she made research with others professors in the program.

I chose her because when she was our teacher in the subject “Evolution and complexity of public administration” I saw the ways that she loves the program, she had a lot of knowledge in her area, she taught with a complete vocation about the public service, and she always believed in us to could change the country, so that made that I love more the program and want to give classes in the “escuelita” :D.

Why I hate the winter?

Hi! I didn’t write in a long time, but I’m here again! Well, today I’m going to talk about the winter. Maybe many of you love the winter, the raining and cold days, but let me say that I don’t like the winter at all. I prefer the summer despite the heat, I love the fruits of that season like watermelon, cherrys, strawberrys, melon and so on.

In my opinion the worst thing about the winter is the cold, I really hate it. I spend the whole day with my hands and foot frozen. The only solution to that is being near of some heater. For example once I woke up I turn on the electric heater to get dressed, I spend a lot of time in the dining and living room because I’m near of a paraffin heater and I have a pot over that so I can drink tea whenever I want.

Despite the cold and the rain, the winter has good things too, for example, my mum bring to the house “sopaipillas” from her store to the evening meal and they are really tasty.

My favourite picture with my friends

Hi! today you're going to meet my friends! yay!.

That day my friends and I went to the Cinema to see Deliver us from Evil in 2014, actually I don’t like that kind of films, but I made an exception because I went to see it with my best friends!, they are Fernanda, Cristobal, Barbara and Valentina.

This picture it’s important for me because my parents are over- protective with me because I’m the littlest of the house, so they didn’t  let me go out a lot, so when I got the permission I was very happy because that was our first outing together. Actually I spend the whole day with them, I always used to lunch in my house, but that day I lunched in the school with them, we spend all the breaks together we spent a great time.

This picture was taken by a friend of us at the end of the movie before to our houses returns. Although that outing was short, I loved them; I remembered that day with happiness.

If I could tell you how much and why I love each of them I will to spend a lot of time writing and that could be boring for you :c so I’m going to stop writing right now. Bye!

My experience before and during the University

Well, like the title say, Today we must to write about our mid-term  project which is a presentation whose my topic is "My experience before and during the University". I chose that topic because enter to the program and to the University that I wanted it mean my first  goal and my first big decision.

All started in 2013 when my sister, Carla, enter to the Universidad de Chile to the program “management control sistems”. I saw her like my role model, so I wanted to study the same program, but one day I saw her cry because she doesn’t understand maths. So I consider twice if I really wanted enter to the program, so I started to search another programs which it doesn’t have many subjects with maths and I find “Public Administration”.

After that I prepare myself to make my dreams come true. I register on Cpech to prepare the PSU and have good results to enter to the program. There I met my History teacher who inspire to superpass myself in everything, until nowadays.

The day when the results of the postulations are available I was so calm! something in me knows already that I going to enter to the program without any problems. And that was happened.

Since I enter to the university, everything was so cool and good. I met my classmates whose it convert in my friends,  they always have the disposition to bring me their aid any time I need help.

Every day that I spend  in this program I realise that this is what I always wanted. In the future I will remember this experience like the most important in my life because it delivered to me the learning and work tools to confront the reality

The technology as part of my life

Hi! Today I'm going to talk about my favourite piece of technology

Actually I have 2 favourites pieces of technology. The first one is my phone. It is a Motorola moto g, my mum bought it to me for my last birthday. At the beginning I was a little bit mad because my last phone was fine! It still worked well. But in the nexts days I was gratefull to have my new phone, It run so fast, I could use many apps at the same time . I use it for everything, to communicate through Whatsapp and facebook, to share, see, comment photos in Instagram (I spend a lot time in Instagram!), like an alarm clock and even like a GPS.

I use my phone every time that I can, and if it has low battery I have a portable charger, so I can use it over and over again. I like it because it is useful for many things, and like I said before, it’s a good way to keep the communication with my family and friends.

Maybe this could be weird to read, but I can’t imagine my life without it, it is a part of me, maybe like another brain or something like that.

The other piece of technology that I use a lot is my tablet. I use it to play plants vs zombies, see Instagram, facebook, videos, etc. And sometimes I used it to study, but I study on my computer more than in the tablet.

My first big decision!

During my childhood I had many dream jobs, for example I wanted to be an english teacher because I love the subject, only for that reason. In the High school I want to study Bussines Administration like my sister, but I didn't like maths! So I started to think about my hapiness and my quality of life and I realised that I wouldn't enjoy my job if I had studied that career, so I searched a similar career in the Universidad de Chile and I found Public Administration. In the beggining I didn't know nothing about the career but while I was reading the description of the program I started to love it because that has everything that I wanted to be and do, I mean, to help people with their troubles, make the country a better place to live and solve many injustices of the society.

When I started the program the last year I was very nervious to meet my new classmates, teachers and know about every subjects. I have a great experience in the university until now, I has met a lot nice people who are my friends here, they make me laugh a lot. 

At the beginning I want to work in a city hall, but I know that it could be difficult. I'll like to give classes in the program too! 

A little biography about me :D

Hi! my Name is Catalina Peña, I was born in 1997 in Santiago. I have 3 siblings older than me, Carolina (31 years old), Carlos (29 years old), Carla (21 years old). My parents' name are Carlos and Beatriz. I live with my parents and with my sister Carla, but actually Carolina and her boyfriend (Hernan) came to live with us when their son was born. His name is Dante, he has one month and 2 weeks. We have 5 dogs (I had already wrote about them in my last post) two of them live outside the house and the last 3 live with us inside.

I spent my 12 years of school in the same institution in Buin, Saint James School. In my whole life I had different groups of friends, but in high school I met my closets friends their names are Barbara, Cristobal, Fernanda and Valentina ♥.

In 2015 I started my studies in the program of Public Administration in Universidad de Chile, I hope that this could be a great experience :D

I have many hobbies, for example, my favourite hobbie is sleep, I sleep a lot, basically it is my medicine for everything. If I'm boring/sad/tired/upset/mad I take a blanket and I lean in the couch or in my bed until the alarm clock start to sound. I usually play Plants vs Zombies, I spend a lot of time on this game, In the summer I played a lot Diablo 2 and Age of Empires II, I played these games during my childhood so I have a type of care with them .

A short history of my life

Hi! I'm Catalina Peña, I'm 19 years old, I'm in the program of Public Administration in the Universidad de Chile and the reason of this blog is because I'm studying English 3 and we're gonna write a lot in blogs. In the beginning i was scared to write  this blog because i don't know what to share with all my classmates and teacher, but at the same time its going to be a great method to improve my Writting skill which isn't developed enough. 

I have 5 dogs of different breeds, 2 of them lives outside the house because they are a big breed (Boxer and Bulldog, they names are Teo and Mambo repesctively), and the others 3 lives inside. One of them is my little baby, his name is Totto, he is a black poodle, he is 12 years old I had him since I was 8 years old, practically he had been stayed with me all my life, He is the apple of my eye, I couldn't live without him. Pelusa is my sister's dog, she is older than Totto, she is a white poodle, she is14 years old, she is the Queen in the house, she was the first dog who stays with us inside the house so we have an special care with her. The last one is called Toffee, he is really hyperactive, when he is bored or when he needs atention he starts to jump in the coaches and barks every time until someone pay atention to him.

I have many frustrated dreams, for example i want to have brackets, all of my friends had already worn, and it could be a little bit uncomfortable for them see me watch theirs tooth, but i really like how it seems. My other frustrated dreams is going to a Backstreets boys shows, I started to listen them during my childhood because my old Sister listened them so I started to love them too. My favourites songs are "As long as you love me" and "Show'em what you're made of"
